Across Ethiopia, too many women are living with obstetric fistula, suffering in silence and unaware that treatment is available.
Genet was one of those women. A widow with a family to support, Genet struggled to earn a living, often having to beg neighbours for food.
This was her life for 17 long years.
Then she was found by Tolera, a Hamlin Patient Identification officer, who arranged her journey to Hamlin’s Addis Ababa Hospital. When Genet arrived, she was welcomed with a Comfort Package to mark the start of her healing journey.

Yes. For a single donation made online you will receive an immediate automated email receipt. Please check your spam folder if you don't receive it. For regular gifts you will receive an annual tax receipt sent in the post in July.
Yes. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible in Australia.
For every $1 donated, 70 cents goes directly towards Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia’s programs for the treatment and prevention of obstetric fistula, 13 cents is necessary for accountability and administration and 17 cents is invested in fundraising efforts which allows us to help even more women in future years.

By making a small regular gift, you are continuing the work started by Dr Catherine Hamlin over 65 years ago to provide life-restoring treatment to Ethiopian women suffering from horrific childbirth injuries.
A donation amount of your choice is debited from your nominated credit card, or deducted from your bank account on 10th of each month, or the nearest business day.
Should your financial circumstances change, you can adjust your regular gift amount or place your donations on hold by calling us on 02 9440 7001 or emailing hq@hamlin.org.au.
All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. At the end of every financial year, you will receive an annual tax receipt for all your gifts over the past financial year.
