Why I am fundraising

Last year I walked 250km for Hamlin in 10 weeks. I was so pleased to spread the word about the Hamlin Model of Care, treating Ethiopian women suffering from the preventable childbirth injury - obstetric fistula, raising money to support the work and sharing my adventures with my supporters. This August - September I’m doing something a little different, the Hamlin BAREFOOT Walk to further support the work - 25km over a month. Easy - peasy right?? The real challenge is to raise at least S1500, the cost of one life-changing fistula repair surgery at one of six Hamlin fistula hospitals in Ethiopia. But who knows, you might help me raise enough for surgeries for two women. 25kms distance is reflective of the average distance many women in rural Ethiopia must journey to receive medical care, often barefoot. There is so much more to tell about the amazing work done over the last 60+ years by the Hamlin Fistula Hospitals.
